They are no sycophants.
They seek not to praise,
nor applaud,
nor chase approving nods from anyone.
They are simply people-pleasers,
achievers of targets not their own,
leaving their dreams unchecked,
letting ambitions fade
while they pour their strength
into covering the naked needs
on others’ tables.
They prune hope-trees
grown in borrowed gardens,
trim flowering ideas “for the best,”
water success
for destinations not theirs.
Without hesitation,
they adjust grounds and standards,
break principles,
postpone their goals,
all for others.
Weeds design their paths,
fine art shaped from dust-drops
on their wares.
Yet a focus on their own lane,
a return to their centre,
would become a life well lived
and a story rebuilt and refined.

The What a powerful piece 😊. The poem critiques people-pleasers who prioritize others’ needs over their own dreams, leading to a life of unfulfilled potential. It highlights- Sacrificing personal goals for others’ approva- Neglecting one’s own path (“lane”) and ambition- Losing touch with their true self (“centre”)
The message: Finding balance and focusing on one’s own journey leads to a more authentic, fulfilling life (“a life well lived and a story rebuilt and refined”).
Such a great piece 👏
