Phantom
I fell in love with a phantom.
He was beautiful in my eyes.
I thought, he thought same.
Now it seems like eons ago, that I met and fell hard for this charming nerd,
Cunning and versatile,
He knew something about everything.
But not everything about some things.
He taught me things,
And like a thirsty sponge, I soaked it up
I learned faster than in a class.
He taught me about love, I loved back.
He showed me to give and I gave back.
I gave all, no holds barred.
He became my inspiration
He was the stuff my fantasies were made out of
I saw the world in his eyes, a cat with nine lives.
Caution was lost to the winds.
Giddy with excitement I was brave like a lion, you could hear me roar.
Alas, I realized too late, it was a farce written by the same audience for which I played.
And right there, upon the stage where the spotlights shone on me,
And the world watched,
I fell to the accompaniment of raucous laughter,
Fingers pointing,
Hands clapping.
Whilst I, a slow fade into nothing.
The curtain closed on me.
The world dimmed from my sight,
Bright lights turned into darkness.
My phantom, like an apparition,
Elusive and delusive
Was an illusion.
