Am I allowed to shed a tear?
To flip my smile and watch my fear,
As it wraps its hands around my wrist
And whispers strength into my ear?
Am I allowed to laugh within,
But cry for help out loud?
Can I now live amidst my ‘sin’,
Or still follow the crowd?
Can my words still pierce the sky?
Are you the one behind the blue?
Do you sit and watch me cry,
Or am I just waste to you too?
I know that you can see the knife
That loving you put in my back
I know that you gave me my life
But if this is life, please take it back.
I’ll sit and wait for your response
I’ll block the hatred just this once
But if with time, I hear you not
Then all of this is pointless thought.
