The Whisper Line

How the Game Works

• No account needed. Add a nickname if you want credit in the feed.
• A short piece is played one line at a time. Every word in the current line is hidden behind a blank showing only its length.
• You can try any unsolved word, in any order — there's no left-to-right rule.
• A correct answer is private by default — only you see it. You then choose to Share it (locks it in for everyone) or Keep it (stays your secret, but the word is still up for grabs by someone else too).
• The line is only complete once every word has been shared. Whoever's share fills in that last blank wins the line.
• You can decide to collaborate and strategize with other participants in the WhatsApp group, who may have found a word.

The Prize Pool

• Every word shared adds ₦500 to the pool — so the more the group shares, the bigger the prize gets before anyone even has to decide anything.
• The winner then chooses: take the pool (resets it to ₦0, receipt generated) or leave it (pool grows by a further ₦2,000 for the next line). Either way, the next line starts immediately.
• Taking the pool costs a ₦1,000 penalty, deducted from the payout — so it isn't automatically the "safe" choice over leaving it to grow. You're shown the exact penalty and your final amount before you have to confirm anything.
• Every ₦50,000 the pool crosses (by someone leaving it) triggers an extra ₦10,000 bonus — a shared goal for the whole group, not just one person's call.
• Collaboration is the real point here — the prize is just a nice bonus along the way. Whoever leaves the pool the most shows up on the Most Generous list below.
• ⚠️ Your claim code is the only proof you won. It's shown once, on your device, and never again. By participating, you agree that if you lose or fail to record that code, the prize is forfeited and added back into the pool for everyone else.

Pacing & Wait Times

• A single correct guess wipes your escalating wait back to zero completely — it only builds up on an unbroken streak of misses.
• Hit the per-word miss limit and that specific word is off-limits to you — every other open word on the line stays completely available.
• A guess shorter than the real answer, or one that's already been ruled out on that word, is rejected instantly — no delay is spent either way.
• Finding a word resets your own delay timer right away, so a hot streak doesn't have to stall out. Someone sharing a word resets everyone's timer and clears any per-word lockouts — a fresh start for the whole crowd the moment new ground is public.
• A wrong guess privately tells you roughly how many of your letters are in the word — "one," "a couple," or "few," never an exact count or any positions. Nobody else sees this hint but you, and it's entirely your call whether to pass it along in the WhatsApp group.
• ⏱️ If a line isn't fully solved and claimed within its time limit, it ends automatically — whatever the pool grew by during that line is forfeited, though anything carried in from an earlier line survives. The next line starts fresh either way. Watch the clock next to the line counter.
