The Cost of Silence

We’ve got the words to transform a nation,
Yet here we are, biting our tongues.
A generation gifted with voices, yet trapped in the prison of our own silence.

Afraid.
Afraid we’ll say the wrong thing. Afraid we’ll stand alone. Afraid our voices won’t matter.
But tell me
How do we plan to transform the world if we remain silent before its problems?
Evil does not grow because it is strong.
It grows because silence gives it room.
They say silence is golden.

But what is golden about watching injustice unfold with folded arms?
Silence never breaks a window.

It never steals.
It never tells a lie.
Yet somehow,
it becomes an accomplice to all three.

A community is not transformed by people who look away.

It is transformed by people brave enough to speak, bold enough to act, and courageous enough to care.

So arise, compatriots.

Not tomorrow.

Not when it is convenient.

Now.
Because the cost of silence is always paid by the future.
