When it Gets Heavy
When it gets heavy,
And the weight of living sits on your chest like a stone,
Laughter feels like a stranger
and even your own shadow feels too dark to follow,
We all know those times that the one place of solace doesn’t feel the same…
The pillow wet with tears,
The church pew cold with silence,
The journal blank as if it, too, is tired of listening.
In these times… Breathe.
Not because the pain vanishes with one inhale,
But because every breath is proof that
you are still here and still carried by the One who holds the stars without trembling.
When it gets heavy… Remember
Remember that your tears are not wasted water, they are seeds,
And the same God who bottles them, waters your tomorrow with them.
The silence you dread is not empty.
It is God whispering louder than words,
“I have been here, I still am and will always be”
When it gets heavy…Lean.
Lean into the Rock that does not break.
Lean into the arms that stretched wide on Calvary, proving once and for all that no burden is too heavy for Love.
And you when you rise again…
The scars will shine like lanterns
to guide someone else through their night.
So,
Let it be written on your heart that
When it gets heavy,
He is still Good,
He is still God…
….And that is enough.
